Enunciação e figuras de retórica

Resumo
Este trabalho parte do princípio de que uma linguística do discurso deve incorporar os estudos retóricos feitos ao longo da história, pois a retórica foi, na verdade, a primeira tentativa de teorização do fenômeno discursivo. Discute as noções de tropo e de figura, para mostrar as imprecisões das definições tradicionais e para precisar, com os instrumentos da linguística moderna, esses conceitos. Debate, principalmente, a questão da dimensão das figuras, que foram classificadas em figuras de palavras, de pensamento e de construção, para propor que elas são operações enunciativas de intensificação do sentido. São, portanto, mecanismos de construção do discurso e, como tal, seu modo de funcionamento real é dialógico.

Enunciation and figures of rhetoric

Abstract
This paper starts from the principle that a linguistics of discourse should incorporate rhetoric studies done throughout history, for rhetoric was, indeed, the first attempt to theorize the discourse phenomenon. It discusses the notions of tropes and figures in order to show how imprecise traditional definitions are and to make these concepts precise by using the tools of modern linguistics. It mainly debates the issue related to the dimension of figures, which were classified in figures of words, thoughts, and construction, in order to propose that they are enunciative operations of meaning enhancement. They are, therefore, mechanisms of discourse construction and, as such, the way in which they function in reality is dialogic.
